Jay Azari is the founder and owner of Azari Rug Gallery, established in 1986. For over three decades, he has operated the gallery, which includes a professionally lit showroom, a rug restoration department, and a facility dedicated to traditional rug cleaning.
Born and raised in Mashhad, North Eastern Iran, Jay was encouraged by his family to learn a variety of crafts and skills, and his passion for the arts has only grown with age. After moving to the United States in 1979 as an engineering student, Jay discovered that the corporate engineering industry did not suit him.
Inspired to follow his childhood love for rugs, he transitioned into the rug business and set a goal to establish the largest rug gallery in Colorado. Over three decades later, he has achieved that goal. Azari Rug Gallery now houses the largest collection of hand-knotted rugs in the Rocky Mountain region and serves clients across the nation.
Jay specializes in Persian, Oriental, Modern, and Navajo rugs and is also involved in teaching about textiles and rug restoration. He offers workshops to interior design students and recently appraised rugs for the Aurora Museum Foundation.
After years of hard work, Jay’s daughter, Farine Azari, joined him in the business, forming a father-daughter duo. Together, they are bringing a piece of their culture to the world, sharing their love and art of rugs, and continuing the Azari legacy of caring for their clients.
